Amy T. Grace concentrates her practice in banking litigation, banking and financial services, commercial litigation, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, real estate law and corporate matters. She wins in court regularly on behalf of secured and unsecured lenders in bankruptcy proceedings, workouts, commercial foreclosures, UCC matters, wage garnishment and other creditors’ rights-related litigation.
Amy also litigates a variety of other civil and commercial matters, manages loan documentation, counsels small businesses on issues including entity formation and does some commercial real estate work. She has a well-deserved reputation as a go-to person for questions on real estate taxes, tax sales and how to unwind a sale.
A careful researcher, Amy relishes finding an obscure detail or loophole that will turn a case in her client’s favor. Her resourcefulness and unique solutions benefit her clients routinely.
Prior to joining L&G Law Group , Amy gained invaluable business operations, banking and real estate experience as a managing attorney for a prominent title company and as corporate counsel for a large real estate tax buyer. Representing banks at a large creditors’ rights firm for several years developed her considerable skill as a litigator.
She recently presented a seminar on marketing strategies for the firm’s associates. In 2016, she authored a chapter on mortgage foreclosure, “Alternative Statutory and Non-statutory Remedies” and co-authored a chapter entitled “Drafting, Filing, and Serving the Complaint” for a handbook published by the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
Amy is a past recipient of the Chicago Bar Association’s annual Rising Star Award for Exceptional Leadership.
Having been a volunteer with the Women’s Business Development Center, Amy is able to advise on the qualifications needed for certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise. She has chaired the Real Estate Committee of the Chicago Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section and has served as an appointed board member for the Section. She ran the Dublin Marathon to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and completed a two-day Avon Breast Cancer Walk to raise money for breast cancer research.
Also deeply committed to her local community, Amy has served on numerous boards and committees with LaGrange Little League, LaGrange Memorial Hospital Foundation and St. Cletus Catholic Church and School. She has also coached track and volleyball at the grade school level.
