Kristin Ahmadian practices in both the Corporate Governance & Compliance Group and the Medical Malpractice Defense Litigation Group, combining her knowledge of the two to handle issues such as Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, and HIPAA Compliance. She provides corporate guidance for private companies, banks, insurers, medical groups, hospitals, and physicians regarding compliance with the Illinois Personal Information Protection Act, the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, and HIPAA. She also represents physicians, nurses, hospitals, and insurers in complex medical malpractice litigation, including obstetrical cases involving fetal death and disabled minors.

As L&G Law Group ’s HIPAA Compliance Officer, Ms. Ahmadian knows firsthand the challenges an organization can face when implementing and continually safeguarding data. Whether it be data mapping, conducting a risk analysis, or negotiating and drafting Business Associate Agreements, Privacy Policies, Terms & Conditions, or User Agreements, Ms. Ahmadian’s practical common sense style helps cut through the myriad of complex legal and privacy issues facing organizations today.

Ms. Ahmadian was a featured speaker at the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association and Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel 2019 Synergy Forum, where she presented on “Closing Pandora’s Box: Cybersecurity, Data Privacy Legislation and Litigation in 2019 and Beyond.” She also recently presented a webinar for the Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society on “Keeping Your Head (and PHI) Out of the Clouds: Data Mapping, Device Encryption Requirements, and the Dangers of Everyday Technology.”

In 2017, 2018, and 2019, she was selected as an Emerging Lawyer by Leading Lawyers Magazine, which recognizes the top 2% of lawyers under 40 years old.

Professional Activities

Ms. Ahmadian is a member of the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys (IAHA), the Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society (CHRMS), and the Illinois Association of Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel (IDC). Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Ahmadian interned at the American Medical Association’s Council on Ethics and Judicial Affairs and the Kennedy Institute of Ethics at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. addressing the legal and ethical implications of the practice of medicine.


Ms. Ahmadian was admitted to the Illinois Bar and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois in May of 2004. She received her J.D. from the John Marshall Law School in 2004. There she was a staff editor of The Journal of Information Technology & Privacy Law (f/k/a The Journal of Computer & Information Law), and was a member of the August A. Rendigs Jr. National Products Liability Moot Court Team. Her distinctions include Phi Beta Kappa and an externship with the Honorable William J. Hibbler of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois. She also received a dual bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Communications from Hope College in 2001.
