For over 30 years Jim Bream has represented health care institutions in their navigation through the health care delivery system and in defense of litigation they may become involved with. Mr. Bream concentrates his practice in health care litigation and the counseling and defense of hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation facilities, assisted living facilities and post-acute care and skilled nursing facilities, managed care organizations, physicians and other health care providers for a wide variety of health care issues, including professional liability and statutory liability. He handles all aspects of major professional malpractice cases in the trial and appellate courts. He has earned an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized by his peers as a Leading Lawyer in the area of medical malpractice defense. He also provides insurance coverage, staff privileging, contracting, lease negotiation, professional regulation, policy drafting and other healthcare counseling services to his varied health care clients. Mr. Bream is the current chapter author for the Defense Perspective in the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education’s Handbook on Long Term Care Litigation.

Professional Activities

Mr. Bream has been a featured speaker and presenter for the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys, the Illinois Association of Defense Counsel, the PLUS Medical PL Symposium, the Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society (CHRMS), WILLIS, the American Society of Nurse Attorneys, the American Association of PeriAnesthesia Nurses, the American College of Surgeons and for numerous hospital and healthcare systems. He is also a past president of CHRMS (Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society) and a current board member for that organization. Mr. Bream has been recognized with the 2021 Leading Lawyers distinction.

Community Activities

Mr. Bream served five terms as a board member of the Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 Board of Education, where served three terms as the President of the Board of Education. He is currently the Co-Chair of CHARACTER COUNTS! in Glenview and has been on the executive committee of the Lew Blond Memorial 5K, a charitable run that raises funds to fight ALS, for over 15 years. He has been recognized by the Village of Glenview for his outstanding service to the community.
